Here's another idea I'm exploring: project planning for teams. One tool I've heard about is a Gantt chart. I explored that in an earlier post: Oops, I forgot to post that video! Well, I'll look for it and try posting later. Anyway, I learned how to set up a Gantt chart using Excel, but this bit of software from Ganttic that promises to set it up for me. Perhaps I'll give it a try...

Time Tracking
One problem I am quickly facing with my current class on Web Marketing is keeping track of my time. There are so many different deadlines (mostly on Tuesday and Saturday) and so many different tasks: reading, researching, discussion posting, assignments, tests, and final project. SO, this morning I began a search for an online time tracking tool. Here's what I came up with: Grindstone. What a perfect name for such a tool! Anyway, here's an introductory video to show how to use it. Hope it works!

Start with a Business Plan!
No matter where you look for information about starting a business, almost the first piece of advice is to "Start with a Business Plan!" Well, that's always sounded pretty overwhelming to me. But here's a video that gives a good introduction to what should be included in a business plan:

Social Media Campaigns
Here's a video that talks about "How to Develop a Successful Social Media Campaign". Here's how YouTube describes it: "In this video interview, Internet marketing expert Eric Enge outlines the various steps involved in developing - and experimenting with - a social media campaign." As you can see, I've jumped into my course on Web Marketing! Social media options are part of what I want to learn, so this is a good start...

Web Marketing
Today begins the Winter quarter at Foothill College, and I'm ready! The class I chose for this quarter is Web Marketing, taught by Mimi Will. The textbook is Web Marketing All-in-One Desk Reference for Dummies, and I've already read the first 100 pages. I can't wait to learn-what-I'm-going-to-learn in this class. Hope it will prove usefull! My goal is to re-work the website I created using Adobe's Dreamweaver Suite 8. This website is for San Francisco's NARFE Chapter 65 of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees organization. As such, we are not a commercial enterprise. However, I think many of the principles of marketing will apply. We want to attract more federal employees and annuitants, we want more of them to join our organization, and we want a more active membership. Hope you'll join me on this journey! Feel free to make suggestions, and offer your own experiences. Well, let's go!
