Add a Gadget!

Classmate Michael asked how to add a gadget, so here goes!

On the Blogger Dashboard, click the button for Layout. Then, click the button for Add a Gadget. A window pops up to display a list of typical gadgets you can add. Pick the one you want, and select Add (or something to that effect). Once the gadget appears on the Dashboard Layout screen, you can grab the left-hand section of each gadget to move it around, and place it where you want. You can easily add and remove gadgets with the new Blogger templates, until you find the look you like. In fact, it's rather fun. So, give it a try - and let me know how it works!

How Many of US?

Here's a cute use of web technology: Find out How Many of Me there are in the US. Here's what I found out: 629,822 have the same first name as I, and it is the 78th most popular name. 642 people in the US have the same last name as I, and it's the 41520th most pospular. However, only I have MY name. I received this info in a circulating email, sent to me by cousin Kathy.

Add a Voice

I am interested in finding a way to post to a blog using voice. Specifically, I would like my father to be able to post information directly onto the blog I set up for Marian and Phil, Inc.

I have searched the internet, and come up with a few likely possiblities. Here's one: Talkr.

Do you know of any other? Blogspot used to have a connection with a company that allowed such a thing: the ability to phone in a post for a blog. But now it's gone! SO - write me if you've got any suggestions!

TV Challenges US

Here's a look of what's in store for us oldsters as we negotiate the switch to digital TV. Get ready!!

Looks like you have to CLICK on this video to see it at the website where it was originally posted. The size of the video was too big (512 pixels x 296 pixels ), so I cut it down (to 400x230). I wonder if that left off the video controls? Anyway - I'm just proving the point: technology is challenging!

Blidget Added to Blog

I have now added a "blidget" to my blog! What you may ask, is a blidget? Well, as far as I can figure out, it's a widget for a blog that lists the most recent postings. If I'm not mistaken, someone could click on Get Widget, and they will be led to a page with instructions how to add my blidget to your blog.

Why would one want to do that? Well, I don't know! But, I'm checking it out. Take a look for yourself - it's currently installed at the top right of my blog.

See Craig Vote

Craig Newmark, creator of Craig's List, joins "millions of Americans", or at least 948 so far, who have taken YouTube's challenge to Video Your Votes!

Craig's List, by the way, is located on my postal delivery route! Not that I actually deliver their mail anymore (being retired these last 3 years). However, it gives me a vicarious sense of pride to have such a remarkable company in my small world. Want to read more about my postal career? Check out My Inner Sunset.

News about the voters' videos can be found at Yahoo! News.
